is it true that the next census that should be released in 2021 has been lost.

I think you are thinking of the one after that , from 1931. This was stored in an old warehouse together with old furniture, which suffered a severe fire in which most/all was destroyed. It was concluded that there was no point in trying to salvage anything . Some details at http://www.1911census.org.uk/1931.htm

oh, that good, the information came from a roots chat member, i am looking forward to the next census being published as it might clear up a few things and was told that the 1921 census was lost and would not be published. oh, so is it all the 1931 census that is lost.

Yes steph, apparently they didn't think it was worth trying to save anything! Mind you it was in the war, and I suppose it seemed not so important then
