Volty on my desktop the titles under all of my Icons have changed from Black to Blue. Can you tell me how to change them back please i don't know what I have done Thanks SB.

I'll just boot an XP machine to refresh my memory.
I think it is under Desktop in Control Panel.

It's a strange thing but I can't choose a different colour than White.
Perhaps going through the motions might reset the colour or you will be given a choice.

So.... Right click on the desktop
Choose "Properties"
In the Display Properties window choose the "Appearance" tab
Click on the "Advanced" button in the lower right corner of the tab
In the "Item" drop down box choose "Icon"

Now you will be offered a choice of Icon size, Font type and Font size.
On my machine the colour choices are faded out and not selectable.

See what you can do with that.

I followed your Directions This is to change the colour of the Text box under the Desktop Icons and folders.

Right Click on Desktop.
Click Properties.
In the Properties window Select Appearance button.
Lower corner of the tab select Advanced button.
Then choose button "colour 1 " This opens a colour box.
Select colour. Click OK on the bottom of that tab.
Then click OK on the Remaining Tab.
Wait until those instructions are saved.

Just one point they are easier to read if a darker colour is selected.

I wonder why I don't get the colour choice then?
That's going to bug me, not now but later.

Would it be something to do with the version of Windows being used?

Dave I don't get the colour choice either, perhaps SB is priveliged by Microsoft. ha ha.

Hello all. What I get is a button that says, colour 1 when I click on this a small colour chart opens. That is with XP. If you bear with me I will try it on Vista.

I have just done exactly the same with Vista. Right click on Desktop. Click personalise. Click on Desktop Background and there is a choice between background pictures or solid colours.

Desktop background is just that, the background picture.
If you have a choice of solid colours it is because you have pictures of solid colours available to use as a background picture.

The Icon text colour is a whole different issue.
The nearest thing to a choice of icon colours is "Themes", not a new concept but it appears to be the only method Vista offers of changing it's appearance.
