Epson Saga

#136 by Voltman , Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:52 pm

So, back to my Epson, I gave it the last two cartridges in order to stop it complaining that it wouldn't print until it had unclogged the printheads. It now refuses to accept the yellow cartridge because it isn't a genuine Epson cartridge.
Epson cartridges are so useless that charities won't accept them for recycling because of the countdown chip, yet they cost five times the price of a substitute.

Volty

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can do something so that an epson printer will accept substitute cartridges. The printer I have now is one of the cheapest in the epson range and I have only ever used substitute replacement cartridges as a new set of genuine replacements cost more than the printer which by the way is one of the best printers I have ever had. I have had it for more than two years now and it has never broke down. I have just purchased six sets of cartridges (24) for just over £20.

That is a line of investigation I will have to pursue then Phil.
The other path is to buy a new laser all in one, which in retrospect is what I think I would have done in the first place if I had known the toners were going to last so long.

I can't Phil, you should ask Brains when he appears.
