RE: BIRMINGHAM PUBS as is and was - 16
This is the place where Brummies used to chat about Birmingham old and new along with anything else that interests us.
We have Quizzes, Pizzas, Local History, News, Politics, Wedding Cake, Plum Pudding, Champagne, Easter Eggs and, above all, Respect for our fellow members.
I cut and pasted that story from an old book on Gutenberg, I can't find it at the moment but it was a list of various things in alphabetical order, so I don't know any more detail. The idea of bones buried under a tree in a pub garden seemed a bit far fetched to me but now I see the pubs connection with bodies it makes a bit more sense. I still don't see why the irons would go to yet another pub for display.
You and I should use an endless stream of vowels and consonants to form the words we will use to effectively assemble a forceful tirade of well constructed sentences which will aid and assist us in our tireless struggle to virtually eliminate verbosity

Hi John
Heres a photo of The Gunmakers Arms in Cromwell Street that you might not have seen before. This one has the gaffer at the time it was taken standing outside. Unfortunately there is no date with it.

Just trying something out, this is a photo of The Old Engine public House, Dale End, being demolished sometime near the beginning of the last century I would imagine.
