My Great Uncle Bill Guest was the landlord at the Green Man in the 1930s.
I bet that was some tough boozer in those days Lynne

I bet it was SB, I'm amazed how all these pubs kept going, there were so many of them.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

This was published in todays Birmingham Mail, I didn't realise that it was a Holders House until I saw this photo. It's a great pity we can't get hold of a list of Holders pubs.

Hi Volty
Thanks for the heads up, though I did know of the defunct brewery livery site and have used it on several occasions. The other site is a new one on me though I will peruse it later at my leisure.
Thanks Volty, I like Phil have seen the defunct livery site but have not seen either of the other two.
I will at some stage be interested to visit Sandwell Archives to see what they have there on Holders Brewery Limited.
Shall I contact the Birmingham Mail to see who wrote the report or are any of you thinking of doing that.
Lynn.

Phil, Am starting to put to-gether a list of what I have on Holder's Pubs and was wondering - On message 5 of this thread you put
Black Horse, Aston Lane, Aston and then (sorry I had misnamed this one) - can you remember what you meant by that.
Shall post for corrections when I finish it.
Lynn.

I can't quite be sure what I meant now, but I think I might have misnamed it on another thread and you had asked me for more information about the pub because it was a Holders House. It was only when I looked at it more closely that the correct name came to light. Yes when you have completed your list it might pay to let us run our eyes over it for you. I'm sure that between Mike, Lyn and myself we will be able to pick out any obvious errors.
Thanks Phil, Shall leave Black Horse as you originally said. Lynn.

This is a list, {just to start me off} - so far and I would be very pleased if any of you can look at and correct anything that I may have incorrectly put there at present, from spelling, pubs, place names, absolutely anything at all to help me put to-gether a list that may be as correct as possible.

Hope the above is readable - if not I could post it in two sections - or any other way suggested. Lynn.

Having worked on Bartholemew St off Duddeston Row I was a bit puzzled as to where the Golden Horse was until I realised that it was the Italian coffee house on the corner next door to where I worked. The rest of them look fine to me.
A couple of names do not make sense so I did some research and found that "Breadshaws Dining Rooms" are in fact RJ Bradshaws Dining Rooms of Dudley Street.
I stole the photo. See Lost Pubs 4th Photo.
The other name that seems odd is Gradstone Arms. Could this be Gladstone?
