RE: Holders Pubs in Birmingham, - 13

Phil, I gave you names of 7 Holder's pubs on Page 1 of this thread to which you gave me the pictures.
Am trying to put to-gether were they are but am finding more than one of a particular name in different streets.
I wonder could you possibly help me with this please.

No problem here is what you want.

1. The Craven Arms Upper Gough St Holloway Head
2. The New Inns Summer Rd Erdington
3. The Woodman Great Hampton St
4. The Reservoir Erdington by the lakes (not really Birmingham)
5. The Selly Park Tavern Pershore rd Edgbaston by Cannon Hill Park
6. The Stores Summer Hill Ladywood
7. The Windmill Spring Hill Winson Green.

I think most of them are still standing, but they might all not be still pubs.

Sorry I missed out part of the address for the Woodman it's actually Well St / Barr St off Great Hampton St.

Since I added all those addresses from memory and having made at least one mistake I thought I had better check them all out. I have just done so on Google and find I have made another slight error. The Stores is on the junction of Summer Hill Terrace & Albion St incidentally the Stores is the only one that Google shows to be closed though the building is still standing.

You might well say what is this photo of a goods yard doing on this thread. but I think the large building to the right is the old Midland Brewery building in Novia Scotia Street that became Holders brewery. So the large white building up on the hill is Lewis's department store on Old Square and the spire that looks adjacent to the brewery is the Central Methodist hall on Corporation St.

So Phil, from that would you think that the square building right in the middle of the picture might be that one part of Curzon Street station that is still standing.
The tall building is certainly in about the right place as there is quite a climb up Grosvenor Street to Nova Scotia Street { Thank goodness we got there before they put up the new building that is now on the site and also got to see a Nova Scotia Street sign before it disappeared }

What a great picture of Curzon Street Station which I appreciate because of my involvement with Miniature Steam Railways. It was because of Sir John Charles Holder's interest in the 10 1/4" railway at his home and us now having some of the original engines and rolling stock that started me off into looking at the history of the Holder family, in the 1st place and how the Concert Hall and Brewery all came about.

It more than likely is, I think the photo was taken either from the live viaduct that crosses Lawley St or the one that was never used that terminated at Lawley St. I have some photos of Curzon St Goods yard if you like I'll upload them to the Transport board.

This was published in todays Birmingham Mail, I didn't realise that it was a Holders House until I saw this photo. It's a great pity we can't get hold of a list of Holders pubs.

Another great photo to add to my list. Am meaning to make a list of all the names etc of the ones I've collected that are connected to Holder and will post on the Forum as soon as I've done it.
