Thank you for the welcomes. I do have lots of pictures that i can add when i get round to it. I also have pictures of houses my family lived in around the nechells area. I am also try to find a newspaper article from the 60's about our little row of houses. It was in the Daily Sketch and was about our houses being haunted as they were alleged to have been built on or near a Jewish graveyard hence the name Betholem Row. Will update you if i get the info

oh pam you are just my type of gal...you have a love of the history of brum...we would love to see any photos that you have when time permits and the story about your houses being haunted is fascinating...i know i should know this but was the daily sketch a brum newspaper??

Yes Lyn i am really into Brum history and very proud too be a brummie as you are :-) the sketch i believe was thefore runner to the sun newspaper. Am going to london hopefully next week to dig out some i info. Pam x

oh of course pam the sketch came before the sun..sure my memory is getting worse..im not sure now about what year the online newapaper articles go up to...(think mike will know) if you need any photos of streets etc just give us a shout as we maybe able to help you on that one....enjoy your trip to london pam really hope you can dig up some good info

Having spent part of my life in the Nechells area between the years of 1953 and 1969 on and off, you will have to let us know where your family came from and we might be able to supply you with some photos of the area that you might like.

they don't go much past 1900 except in a few cases. Betholom row is not listed past 1892 when i did a search

Here is your burial ground, I'm afraid it doesn't say what denomination it was used by. Though it wasn't that far from the central synagogue.

Hi Phil my parents were born and bought up in nechells. My dad was born and lived in long acre and my mom in walter street. My my mom was born in little barr street and they moved to walter street when she was 4 my nan moved from there in 1965. My uncle lived in railway terrace. I had family in park street. My nan used the beehive pub and the prince of wales pub. I lived in nechells park road just down from the swimming baths from 1964 till 1972. Good times Pam

Havent worked out how to turn them round but 1st pic is me in my uncles arms in long acre nechells 2nd on is on of the wiliams children in her pram in Betholem row and the 3rd is left to right me Susan Williams, her sister ,my brother Tony and another of the Willims brothers on the wall outside my house number 11 Betholem Row Pam
