no phil we dont have the guards..never heard of them actually....oh i know about the falling snow off the roof...a great big dollop fell onto the lean to 2 years ago and went through a sheet..its not settling so much on the rooves this time as the wind is blowing it off so fingers crossed that wont happen...

They are like a little fence that run along the bottom of the roof by the guttering. They used to be a must for anyone with glass roofs on a lower level than the main roof. Its not so bad now they use polycarbonate roofing sheets for that type of thing because they will stand up to a good bashing.
For a good update on the weather situation for Birmingham I suggest the National Express Buses website. It si up to date with the state of all bus routes and roads and is NOT looking good for tomorrow.
