John

I'll have to be honest and say that I have never tried that one, though I have heard say it is very good.

Lyn

You have never had a drink, until you have sipped at a fine malt. You can take all your Bacardi breezers and line them up in a row of 20 and I wouldn't trade them for one single tot of malt.

That comes from one of the first people to drink Bacardi in Birmingham. Breezers were only introduced to get the young kids on to spirits because a few years back they weren't interested in spirits all they wanted was that weak gnats water that comes in bottles and is described as American Beer.

The best comics were the horror comics that you could get in the 50's. You might not remember them because I only can just about. I think they banned the early in the 50's because they were too scary for us kids (spoilsports). Any of you older guys remember them? What about you John I think you are our senior member.

John

Yes those are the ones, I remember going to different mates houses to do swaps. Comics were about the only form of indoor entertainment for kids in those days. No television & very little on the radio. Then they started dictating what comics we could read.

Remember the shop down Great Lister St just past the Oak & Lister Square that sold second hand books but they did a roaring trade in second hand comics as well. I was always in there.

Good Evening Astoness.

I've just been looking at your Bartons Arms story. I was wondering if the photo of L&H is an original that you actually have?
I also wonder if perhaps Your dad may have mistook Hardy's response, I can just imagine them coming out with something like that for a laugh.

hi volty...nope i dont have the original and yes i agree that is the sort of response L AND H would make but i would think it was a serious response as dad came away without any autograph....actually i will press dad on that again when i visit him tomorrow...see if he can elaborate on the story...
