http://www.yarratrams.com.au/media-centr.../2011/melbourne's-new-tram-network-map-revealed/

Attached is a link to Melbourne trams, the old green trams are still around they have been repainted in the brownish colour and are used in the city proper in a circle so tourists can hop on and off, free, we have lots of new trams some bend in the middle, all the big trams stops are raised so no stepping up,

Fares are good - I can ride any train, any tram or any bus within an all day pass that's roughly a circle around Melbourne of 25 miles - so 50 miles accross doesn't matter which mode I use or how many times I get off or on - I cannot pay more than $3.80 thats around five pounds, so good value

Lyn the trams speed in city proper is about 25 - 30k, outside around 60kph which is our speed limit 60k is I think 35mph

Good stuff TCA.
I reckon trams would be the transport of the future if it wasn't for the overhead cables being such a mess.

I have tried to fix the broken URl for Yarra Trams but as it contains an apostophe it isn't clickable.

Why Not
With the state of the rushhour traffic, they would have no trouble keeping up.

Even people who work with horses appear to have a problem staying out from under their hooves.

Think you could follow the horses with a bucket and shovel ,save a fortune on fertilizer, have done that for my dad but not recently.

I would imagine more people are dead or injured due to going under wheels than ever went under wheels.
