I am from the edge of Sheldon bordering on Yardley. I lived for a few years on The Meadway backing on to Mirfield School. When it was Lea Village School in the 1950s my sister was expelld from there. Her ears had just been pierced and she refused to take her sleepers out. SB

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Welcome Roger Lee,

Thank you for clearing up my confusion over the hall and the railway, I must have read some erroneous texts and so couldn't make sense of them.
You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the hall would you?

Hi Voltman

Yes I do have two pictures I downloaded off the internet about 2 years ago, they are of Lea Hall when it was still lived in and onther taken much later when it was derelict and falling down.

I'll dig these out when I can and post them here, I just need to find them again.

hi voltman I lived in Whittington oval and schooled at mirfield grammer (ha ha) and walked past the old lea hall farm road by the railway station . ( I think it is all grown over now). the old farm road ran down along side what is the now the railway and beind the houses. you will remember was a coal yard in the 1970. opposite the offie and the grocers.

Hello Colin, nice to see you back.

I can't actually remember anything being opposite the shops.
I remember the waste ground, with a concrete air raid shelter, where the children's home was built. Then there was the little PDSA vets surgery, but the other side of the road is a blank.
Presumably the coal yard was where the railway commuters car park is now?

Hi Volty
The original lane ran all the way down past the back of the council houses . I think it is a drive for the back gardens now. The old coal yard went years ago it was only coal storage. in the early seventies the only bit of the lane was all torn up in sections I think the car park is where part of lane ran but have not been there for 30 years .
