lovely pictures - i am sure alma street is where my other halfs grand dad was born and used to live in 1855. their names were john and rosa jolley, and his grand dad was william, they were coal carters.
dont suppose there are any photos around that late, or even in the early 1900s, perhaps showing the c oal carting jolleys.

I would imagine my Granddad had a pint or two in one or two of the fine establishments in that solubrious area.

Lyn,
Do you have any of Aston Road,Duddeston or would that be going off at an angle to what you are doing here. Great photos.

Lynn
Was you looking for any particular place or part of Aston Rd?

Phil,
It was that on Henry Holders marriage certificate in 1837 his address was Aston Road, Duddeston. He was also a Butcher at that time and I wondered what the area was made up of - I do realise, a long road. Wondered if I may be able to see something of what the overall road looked like.
I would like to find out if he lived there and had his shop somewhere else or if his Butchers shop was there and he maybe lived above it.
Lynn.

Hi Lynn
Strange one this because Aston Street ran into Aston Rd which ran into Aston Rd North and it ran from Lancaster place in the City though Gosta Green to Aston at no time touching Duddeston. Still the way names have changed through the years I suppose it is entirely possible.
I would think Mike might be able to come up with an address or a location of the butchers shop, i then might be able to find you a photo of the location if not the shop itself.

Please Mike, Any ideas.

In 1839 Henry Holder, butcher was listed as Coleshill St. No mention in 1833 or before. He is not listed in 1841, and the next reference I have of him is at the rodney in 1845.
