I've seen that last shot before and was so interested in the laboratory glassware place that I failed to realise where this was.
I thought It was the site of the Central Library at first but a bit of google walking shows it to be at the end of Great Charles Street and just behind the library.

Volty
I think that must have been Griffin & George. They are listed as Gt Charles St. We used to get a lot of stuff from them till they were taken over by Gallenkamph

Mikejee, I think the sign in the 1st floor corner window could say "Griffin & George". It could also be wishful thinking.

In the photo we are standing in Great Charles St at the Junction of Congreve St & Summer Row. The building to the right is on the junction of Great Charles St & Summer Row. It could be the Hoffman Manufacturing Co.

Getting back on track, if we are looking down Congreve Street then we have to have a look around Chamberlain Square.
