Sharps Toffee was another one, it came in a tray and you had to batter the living Doings out of it to break it up, and when you came to eat it you always picked a piece that was too big for you mouth. Sharps also made Toffee Bon bons, but I wasn't too keen on them.

Phil, They sound lovely. (Locusts)

SB, That's the place, (Blue Bird) we must have driven past it for real when visiting friends in Hagley.
We must have been a bit lost though, the factory is on the Bromsgrove Road just south of Halesowen and so not directly on the way to Hagley.

Palm banana split toffee, 3d a bar from the sweet shop opposite Dennis Rd School. Worth getting the cane for eating it in class.

A "Tetrahedronal Delight" as we used to say down in the reception class.

Cheaper by far was the Tupperware ice lolly set we had. You could make your own flavours, dandelion and burdock was always a bit messy.

Is this really a game?

No it's not really a game, other than a memory game to prove how old you are and seemingly make everyone else hungry, it's totally in the wrong place but who cares. SB

Tomato Dips, sold in every cafe in Brum, poor mans breakfast, usually 2d in old money.
Can you imagine going into any cafe now and asking for one, you'd be slung out on yer ear.

You could make a meal of it and ask for a glass of water

That's something I can't help doing whenever I open a tin of toms, and a few times while I'm cooking. It's like having a starter.
The dip, not the water.
