Back up a bit to the last sensible post and you will see that Signman used to eat Chocolate Locusts.

I don't remember these, perhaps they didn't catch on. Did they have a nice crunchy coating with a soft centre?

I remember them, I think they came in tins. Like chocolate ants.

They were like a flattened banana, about the same size, covered in cheap soap flavoured chocolate, come to think of it-they were revolting.

Remember Wagon Wheels, The Original big ones in a paper bag with a cowboy picture story on the bag. The ones I remember were made in the 1950's.

SB, They must have been well mouldy by the time they got to you.

Phil, The locusts were very small then? I was imagining something as big a your hand, with wings.

I also remember the big old waggon wheels, they were a bit magical, the chocolate tasted different to other chocolates and the biscuit and mallow were a novelty to me. I think the paper bag was yellow, this was in the sixties, and I particularly remember having one on my way out of the Co-op club at the Yew Tree.

Another quality item every kid had to have (especially posh people) was a tin of Blue Bird Toffees.

Only at Christmas in our house, but what a tin though. Embossed and painted and with a marvellous smell of Blue Bird toffees, nothing has ever smelled like that since, I can smell it now.

What ever happened to Blue Bird ?

I'm sure I drove past a big sign of theirs recently. Of course when I say drove past this also includes my regular trips out in Google.
I can drive / walk for hours down streets I know as well as new ones.
My latest addiction is revisiting as many places as possible that we have been to on holiday and seeing what has or hasn't changed.
