Supermarket bags are biodegradable yes, but they don't degrade that quick, countless small animals choke on them. And the plastic that comes round four cans of beer. SB
SB, I always used to cut up the beer can plastic things so that they don't form rings, I say "used to" because I only buy boxes of beer now.

another thing I hate is sachets of sauce, the plastic waste must make mountains, why not use bottles??
I think it is a matter of hygiene Denise, a "customer" could tamper with the contents of a bottle and no one would know.
Just as many of these sachets get thrown away unopened as they do empty. A complete waste all round.

I think that originally it was used mainly for mustard, which does go off when opened (though no made up mustard in a bottle tastes like real mustard anyway). Then it seemed to spread to other things. vinegar is particularly annoying, as it often squirts all over the palce, and there is never enough in one sachet.

My favourite was the old 7 pint Party Bumper Can of beer, the obligatory partner you took to parties. Nobody had ever got one of those openers specially made for putting 2 holes in the top of the can. So it was hammer and screwdriver time. The times I have gotten a face full of beer before I even tasted it are innumerable.

Why won't they bring back the Bumper? I would take up drinking beer again.
Double Diamond or Brew XI or even Watney's Red Barrel. No girlie drinks in 'em was there?

Every Xmas every outdoor was stacked to the ceiling with bumpers of brew 11, magic.
What you may have seen Phil are the little barrels that fit into a dispenser or a fridge door.
Foreign coloured water at rip off prices and I dont think they are 7 pints either, some random number of litres.
Signman, when I was a kid it wasn't christmas unless we had a bumper of ale, it was the only time beer came into the house. There would be the opening (the can) fight followed by "half a shandy for the kids" followed by me helping out when there was a load left over. I'll always remember the smell of beer back then, it hasn't been the same since.
The little bodger they gave you would always bend so you would have to get the good one out from a few years before. Years later, when I was old enough to drink, I bought a sparklets beer tap, which I think I still have, that fitted on top of the can.

The same here, me and my bumper can went to a party every weekend. Even though I didn't like beer, it was better and easier than carrying a crate. Anybody got any idea why it was 7 pints, who decided on that number?

They probably decided it was the most a woman could carry for a bloke.
