Morning All

What have you done with the sun?

And you drinkers out there, wasn't it great when the choice was Ansells or M & B. The monopolies act ruined drinking in Birmingham or so they tell me, never being a beer drinker I wouldn't know.

I haven't been into the William Tyler and I'm not in any hurry to.
Whilst I generally manage to visit at least one pub every year, I am not so desperate that I am prepared to run the gauntlet of dodging the go carts that are littered about and pushing my way through the smoking unwashed, in order to join a bunch of peasants drinking and pigging out in what I still regard as Woolworths store.

I have to say Volty, remembering that The William Tyler is still new. Don't confuse it with the Yew Tree opposite. The william tyler is very nice, unless it's very busy but that apply's everywhere. it's also good for breakfast at 8 Oclock in the morning.

I could never confuse it with The Yew Tree SB. Least said about that hole the better.
My problem is that there is no where for the disgusting puffers to go and top themselves except for on the street in front of the open doors.
I can't even walk past the place without getting a sore throat and a neurological reaction that makes apocalyptic genocide look like the Mad Hatters tea party.

Being a non smokers for the last eight years now I think it was time that smoking was once again allowed in pubs so we might see the resurgence of the trade, The no smoking ban has nearly killed the pub trade off and all the excuses in the world do not hide that fact. What happened to the hordes of non smokers that were going to fill out pubs when they got their own way. Why can't there be smokers only pubs or if not that at least smoke rooms with state of the art air conditioning.

Smoking in public should be banned outright, it even taints the fresh air of the great outdoors. The pity is that smokers have no idea how bad it is because they are already at saturation point.

I agree that Pubs that want to invite smokers should make it clear that they are a smoking establishment and have to keep it indoors instead of on the street.
They would of course have to employ people who either smoke or are willing to endure it without complaint or comebacks. Or have you all forgotten why the ban came about in the first place?

Volty

I am quite sure that they would have no problem at all in finding smokers as employees to fill the positions required in smoker only public houses. The point is it will never come to fruit because they would be too much of a success. A pity really because we might have the chance to see some pubs open again instead of close down. I see you never answered my question about the failure of the hordes of non smokers filling our pubs after they got what they wanted, In fact are there any public places that are doing better now we have the smoking ban?

I totally disagree Phil. after getting used to the no smoking environment I would stop using any pubs that were to allow it again. Not forgetting that most pubs serve food these days I wouldnt eat with the filthy stench of cigarettes around.
its bad enough coming in through the doorway with one or two smokers standing around. Smoking in pubs , no thanks.

Phil, the ban is nothing to do with business it is to do with the health of employees.
If you had a business that pampered to smokers at the expense of non smokers then you backed the wrong horse, Tough.
