Morning all,
Well I think winter has arrived here, torrential rain and wind all night, and still raining.
Must say I love stormy seas and winter is my favourite season, I usually walk twice as far in winter as opposed to summer, it's easier to set
a good pace and get warmed up.
Another snapfrom yesterday.

Good morning John the weather is much the same here. I didn't answer your question on my block paving pattern sorry. I hadn't decide but when I got going I used the Plaid Pattern. Edging the Herringbone patter would have been too much of a pain. SB

Just finished my little walk 2 miles, brightening up fast now, and very mild with changing light conditions every second, a couple of snaps.

Had a bit of a laugh whilst I was out, some people had pitched their tents under the pier, about 5 of them, I watched as the police shook them
and shouted "wake up this is not a camping area".

You are lucky, John if it had been Brum it would have been Stinkers Caravans.

We have them as well but they usually stick to the park or down by the marina.

John

Reminds me of the time in the early 60's when the police turfed me and my mate out of Green Park in London at 5 in the morning for getting our heads down in our sleeping bags.

At 16 years of age we hadn't got the sense or the local knowledge to head for Hyde Park the night before, so we chose a park no bigger than a traffic island next to Buck House to kip down for the night.

Denise

It's a different world today, the last time I was down in London there were people sleeping everywhere. In shop doorways, in alleys in fact any place that was a bit sheltered. They were very rarely troubled by the police, and then only if someone made a complaint.

I think the reasons why they do it are different as well, I think today it is mostly to do with drugs or alcohol. I may be spouting off about something I know very little about. But we did it through choice and it wasn't a permanent lifestyle. Even back then there was no need to sleep on the streets if you were destitute. There were always hostels and charities then. I'm sure that there are still plenty of these sort of places now.

I couldn't ever do it. I like a clean safe bathroom handy when I wake up in the morning.

Thats my point, things were so different then you could go into any public convenience and have a wash and brush up for about 6d (two and a half pence). There was no need to be dirty or unwashed. There were still plenty of places in London where you could eat cheaply. We mostly ate at downstairs at the self service café at Lyons's Corner house on the Strand just off Trafalgar Square as that is where we spent most of the day waiting to hook up with a couple of the local young ladies.
