When I used to travel the southern half of the country visiting Tesco stores in the 80s, and what a shopping spree that was, I remember leaving my Devonshire hotel one snowy morning in my little Astra van and the only traffic I encountered on my way to the next town was a couple of Landrovers, no one else would dare go out. it was't even a foot deep at that time it must have been about the height of the front valance. Clearly more than they were used to. Obviously that much snow just lately would bring Birmingham to a complete halt as well. But we all know the reasons for that.
