You will just have to be nice to john, I just hope he realises that in my drinking days I used to have a bottle of Scotch to start the evening.

Good morning fellow Brummies,
Another promising day here in the solar city of the south coast.
SB, enough of the old, I'll race you round the block any day.
Phil, I don't drink much, and certainly not whisky, that's for special occasions, I have maybe 10 pints a week spread over 2 sessions,
and sometimes I go for weeks without touching the stuff.
VM,The article was entitled MEMORIES OF CROMWELL STREET. about4 or 5 years ago or maybe a bit more recent than that, you would only have to look at the index to find it, many thanks for your help.
I've had 2 more jobs come in from the Drive-in sign.
Have a nice day where ever you may be.
John old pal I you would have no trouble beating me in a race, trust me. Nice to see you are keeping busy. We have a real dismal start to the day here.

FOUND IT !.
September 2004.
Hope you all can read it.
I have it in front of me now, after trawling through 7 years worth of mags.
I'll bet the indexes are all correct except for this one. You article isn't mentioned in the index.
Typical of anything I am looking for.

Is this clearer?

John
Good story and well told, reminds me greatly of my own childhood except for the references to the war. I was just lucky enough to have missed that.
I think you were right about never having to lock our doors, but I think the main reason for that was because we didn't have anything worth stealing.
It sometimes makes you wonder how we can look back at these times and remember them as the good old days.
