When he completes his sentence ,he should never be allowed to drive again.

There is no way he should have not been convicted for manslaughter. That he wasn't can only be due to dubious manipulation by the person acting for him in court

I think the law allows for the families to appeal these days, I hope they do.

February 2017, Harry Clarke in court on a separate driving offence.
"Bin lorry crash driver Harry Clarke admits reckless driving charge"

He has gotten away with the original killing of six people and the courts have ruled that he can't be touched by their families.

"In relation to the 2014 bin lorry crash, the Crown Office insisted there was insufficient evidence to raise criminal proceedings against Clarke.
However, in a rare legal move, relatives of three crash victims sought permission from senior judges to bring charges against him in a private prosecution.

Despite that, judges at the Appeal Court in Edinburgh ruled in November last year that the family could not launch a private prosecution.
Jack and Lorraine Sweeney, 68 and 69, and their granddaughter Erin McQuade, 18, Stephenie Tait, 29, Jacqueline Morton, 51, and Gillian Ewing, 52, died in the incident.

The subsequent fatal accident inquiry heard Clarke had a history of health issues but had not disclosed his medical background to his employers or the DVLA.
It also emerged that Clarke had previously blacked out while working as a bus driver but failed to disclose it when he became a bin lorry driver with Glasgow City Council."

There's only one way to deal with people like this.

Hopefully, even if he cannot be charged with the other offence, the event can be taken into consideration in this case, and he be given the maximum possible sentence

Typical of the way our laws work I think.

Three years later and one compensation claim is settled.

At the bottom of the news article is this.....
"Clarke, 60, had his driving licence revoked but was caught behind the wheel nine months after the fatal crash.
He later admitted culpable and reckless driving and in March last year he was banned from driving for three years, ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and electronically tagged for four months."

This means business as usual for him now, he hasn't suffered at all.

Our Legal system isn't fit for purpose at times. (Most times)
