I thought it may be interesting to compile a list of old time Comics, their Characters and features.

I used to have a great comic more of a magazine type really. It was called Boys World. It was published in 1963-64 eventually it merged with the Eagle. It had some really good features.

I acquired a collection of Eagle from a friend who was moving south when I was a kid, I will have to dig them out and see what they are all about.

I remember getting Whizzer and Chips on the weekly trip to the Yew Tree, The Beano and the Dandy were delivered.
The thrill of a new comic, especially when it comes through the letterbox is something that I have never quite managed to recreate.
I came close when I was in senior school and used to buy a television weekly called Look-In.

TV21 was an occasional read whilst Valiant and Hotspur were unreadable to me, I think they were all about football.
Whilst I don't remember TV Comic I do remember Mighty Moth who appeared in it.

The ladies may remember Girls Crystal.

I can remember the Beano & Dandy being 2d and remember the shock & horror when they went up in price to 3d. My favourites were of course the American Comics Superman & Batman but they were so expensive at 6d that I could never afford them. There was a great shop on Great Lister Street where you could buy second hand ones or a very low cost you could do swaps for one you hadn't read. Then of course you could trail around your mates houses doing swaps.

My first memory of a comic was having Harold Hare delivered.

I have very fond memories of Christmas night curled up reading the Bunty annual.

A lady who lived on the corner from us gave me her grown up daughter's collection of comics,a huge pile,think they were girl's Chrystal or school friend,can't be sure.Happy days.

same here den..the smell of a chistmas annual is something that has always stuck with me...dandy and beano were delivered every week...of course me liking me food desperate dan with his cow pie was my favourite
