I'm not an expert in security, but it strikes me that if I had a lot of valuable stuff and had alarms fitted, and there were low roofs that enabled people to climb up to the first floor easily, then I would ensure that the alarms were on the first floor windows as well as the ground floor. In the same way as it is not much use having a locked steel door in a wall if you have a ladder next to it and so can easily just climb over the wall

I always fitted contacts and vibration sensors to vulnerable first floor windows. Windows above conservatories and extensions being the most at risk.
