What gets my goat about this affair is that the government is blaming the previous government for this. IDS was saying this morning that the way the RBS is set up now is down to the Labour government and they can't interfere with bank policy.

What a load of rubbish, after two years in government they couldn't have changed this policy? Also if they wanted to they could introduce a tax to tax there ridiculous bankers bonus's out of existence. Do these politicians really think we are all stupid.

To be fair to the bloke in the story. He isn't the one there has been the fuss about, and indeed there was an interview with him on the box last night done 6 months ago where he said, in effect, that bankers were paid too much at a time when their clients were doing pretty abysmally. So he seems a BIT less grasping. That said, as "Chairman" his bonus was/would have been even greater than the other bloke's
