Some pre 1950 photos of Garretts Green, as SB says there wasn't a lot to photograph around there back then. Left to right Chestnut Farm, Garretts Green Farm, Garretts Green Lane, The Chestnuts.
Thanks Phil
The bottom picture "The Chestnuts" was one of the bigger houses oh Sheldon. The Chestnuts Estate was named after it also the Chestnuts pub, later to be rebuilt as the Chestnut Tree.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

we came back through Sheldon* yesterday (Friday) on way back from auntie's funeral at Woodlands/Chelmsley Wood?
Don't recall going through it before - lost my bearings a few times on way back from the Centurion Pub (where the after funeral gathering was). Good job my brother knows his way around (has to as he works for the A.A.).
*Thought of you Sheldonboy

You mentioned the AA would that be the Automobile Association that your brother works for or is it Alcoholics Anonymous being as he knows his way round the pubs. Mind you, I used to know my way around the pubs and I didn't work for either.
No Phil, you may not have worked for them but you must surely have been a member of at least one of them at some time.

No I was an RAC member and I was refused entry to Alcoholics Anonymous. Something about too much even for them.
I was a member of the RAC for many many years. Then one year I was promised a first aid kit with my renewal. The kit never arrived so I didn't renew with them the following year.
They (RAC) sent me a stream of abusive mail, some of the things that they threatened would happen to my car and myself were quite disturbing.
Now, many years later, the cover that comes with my insurance is with the RAC, at about a fifth of their advertised price.

Volty
However did you sort the abusive AA mail out from all the rest of them?
Easy, it was from the RAC and they had very distinct envelopes.
The rest of the abusive mail was mostly from myself, some sort of split personality disorder we used to suffer from.

I suppose the scrawled hangman's nooses, guns and knives on the envelopes of the other threats helped.
