Blackpool, The Sewage Sea Front

They say their pipe bent at 90º in the storms. That's not the whole story.
The real story is that the Blackpool seafront will be hiding a massive sewage pipe that takes shit out just far enough that the beach can remain open.

What is it with coastal towns that they think the sea is a dumping ground?
Everywhere inland has to have sewage treatment plants, or farms as we used to call them, because we don't have access to the ocean to dump our untreated crap into, so we deal with at our own expense.
Money grubbing seaside hovels should have to do the same.

Absolutely correct Volty, it's about time that the coastal areas had to clean up their act. Considering the fact that everyone has known about and understands that the whole planet is under threat from this kind of poisoning, this should have been addressed years ago.
Just imagine if our rubbish that should be recycled was to end up mixed with the household rubbish, there would be hell to pay.

The thing is that not many "people of influence" have interests there. The sewage works at Salford bridge were only really constructed (eventually), because Charles Adderley, an M.P., had a house upwind of the River Tame, into which a large proportion of birmingham's sewage was pumped. If his house had been elsewhere then there probably would not havebeen proper sewage treatment for another 40 years
