Army Cuts

How is it I'm reading in the papers about cuts within our armed forces, among the cuts announced our army is going to be cut by 1000 men. Yet my wife tells me that the army is still advertising on the television for recruits. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Probably a case of 10,000 leaving this year, 9000 required to replace them.

I notice that the brigadiers, generals and similar are not included, but will be dealt with in a separate review. For those not familiar with political ways, that means nothing will be done to get rid of the approx. 411 senior officers (brigadiers, air commodores and naval commodores and above).
