Town Honoured

#1 by phil ( deleted ) , Thu Mar 17, 2011 4:21 pm

Wooten Basset is to be the first town in over 100 years to be granted the title “Royal” in recognition of the parades and respect show our fallen soldiers. It has been confirmed that the nearby RAF base will close in September of this year, so no more repatriations will happen after that date.

Well done Drayton Bassett this is a well deserved honour.

I agree with you Phil what is nicest is that it was awarded for something that was done spontaneously without a thought that it might be useful to the town, unlike the manipulations and shennanigans every so often about what town is going to get city status (as if anyone really cares )

My sister has been in Wooton Basset on one of these occasions. She found it very moving and will never forget it.

I started out with nothing and Iv'e still got most of it left
