I wish I hadn't put this clip on here now. Every time I log on I come here and play it. I'm a sucker for brass band and trumpet music. My wife drags me away from all the bandstands, and won't let me play it in the car.

A couple of years back I was in Solihull and there was a chap playing his trumpet in the square and selling cd's . He played il silenzio as well as I have ever heard it played. I just had to buy a cd from him. I just stood there and listened for about an hour. I never even missed the wife as she ducked in and out of the shops.

Inherit The Wind. On the whole, a classic court room drama. It began life as a play in 1955 based on a true story and made into a black and white film in 1960. It might be one of the last films that Spencer Tracy stared in, you can see he's struggling in some of the scenes.
If you need something to get your teeth into on a rainy day, don't miss it.
Give me that old time religion, Give me that old time religion, Give me that old time religion, its good enough for me.
(the opening song to the first scene)

I have to agree there Matt Monro was a superb singer. He was of course a top star, but with his great talent he should have been much bigger in my opinion. it's hard to believe its 25 years since he died. SB

Just think we will have to go through it all again in about six months because whatever alliance is formed it will never last.

Phil, after last nights announcements it looks like you are going to be right.
I believe it was all a set-up between the two L's to keep the tories out.
Nick Clegg has soon done a turn about, hasn't got the courage of his own convictions, once a liberal..

John

What I think the last few days have shown us is no matter what the three main party's say about doing things in "the interest of the country" they are as usual looking after their own interests. Not only that they will sink to any level and change policies of a lifetime to do so. A politician today doesn't even understand the word "principle"

The thing is, knowing that they won't do anything for me. At least I'm not disappointed when they don't.
