Use to visit a pub occasionaly was known as the hot and cold pub by the locals it was on the corner of summer lane and snow hill.

I remember mom listening to lord haw haw on the radio ,she called him a traitor ,said he use to live in heathfield road handsworth.

I used to use a great hardware shop in Summer Lane Called Whites, it was down opposite the ambulance station I think, it was a real good old Ironmongers. I am still using some of my old work knives I bought there over twenty years ago.

jo the pub you could be on about is likely to the the salutation very well known for it live jazz nights...im pretty sure ive a thread on the pubs section where i posted photos of all the pubs that were on summer lane in the 60s (15 in total) and only one had the address of summer lane which was the vine.. the only one i dont have is the red lion corner of summer lane and bridge st west..demolished sometime in the 1920s and bridge st police station was built on its ground..still looking for a photo of that one...
SB..whites ironmongers is still very much up and running...

I remember that shop ,you don't seem to get good ironmongers anymore,they have all been pushed out by places like B&Q or do it all.
