I use to go there with mates in the mid fifties, if there was nothing on the villa cross. It didnt take long to walk from villa road, down hamstead road and soho hill, going back a bit now though.

What amazes me is that some of these places were rather grand, presumably with some value and actually owned by someone, yet they are allowed to slip into a sad valueless decline.?

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Voltman,
How sad to see those pictures of the Palladium, I often went there in the 30/40's, sometimes had to sneak in the Exit at the bottom end, when I had no money to get in, a wonderful place for youngsters like me and the wonderful films they had on.

I can barely believe there were shops as well. I suppose the flyover ruined the place and then there's no going back once the decay sets in.
I'm so glad you guys have some memories to share, it seems it was already shut when I first went near it to buy fixings from Woods & Hughes Ltd.

I remember that one, in the late 70s it was showing indian films, before they were called Bollywood movies. I often drove past it, the only times I stopped was to buy samosas from the London Sweet Centre.
