I don't remember it being like that but in the early seventies, every school week, I walked to the swimming baths from Bordesley Green Grammar Technical School, and back of course. The road we used is closed at the Bordesley Green end now. Swimming day was egg sandwich day. I didn't learn to swim though until I was 40.
