The old Talbot Inn in Church Road is now a mosque.

Too many pubs are turning into Mosques, but if you don't use em you lose em. I am all for different parts of the community having their own culture but sad to see a major prt of our community disappear.

In some cases a change of use has saved an old building from being knocked down.
The Old Talbot was tea rooms for a while before becoming a private dwelling.
It had been empty for quite a while before being refurbished about a year ago.

I never have a problem with old pubs and old churches being utilised as Mosques, far better that than being demolished. I do however have a problem with the exteriors being changed to be more Mosque like.

I doubt that would happen to the Talbot, even if it isn't listed it is in a conservation area and the locals are keeping a very close watch on it.

Providing that any change of use did not destroy any historical features , I would have no objection. You must remember that in the not so distant past a number of churches were converted into pubs. Sometimes this was a bit controversial . One directly opposite the cathedral in chichester was named the croaking (?) frog (not sure about the croaking) and a number of people complained and now I believe it is wills bar - a much more boring name.

"The Vatican has expressed alarm over the "immoral" trend for churches to be converted into bars and nightclubs".

I've got an answer for the pope, don't accept the filthy money for them.

Don't be silly, money is the main interest. Always has been with relgion.

Five men from the Talbot Mosque have just gone down the road, at 12:05am, four of them were getting wet while one was kept dry by two of the others who ensured he was covered by umbrellas.
