Energy Bills

Was I hearing things recently when I think I heard our wonderful Prime Minister telling energy company's to rationalise their tarriffs and charge householders the lowest tarrifs to keep costs down.
I have just heard on the news that the Government wants the energy company's to charge more so that they can invest in the future.
Am I having problems understanding things or what.?

They want green energy...........long as we pay for it plus some.

I pay my power bills by monthly direct debit, it seems not being satisfied with overcharging us that they also want to overcharge us in advance. I have just changed suppliers once again and my old supplier had to refund me in excess of £350. This money would have been far better in my account than theirs.

I thought the idea of having a multitude of suppliers was that they would fight each other to be the cheapest and this price war would bring prices down. Well I have news for the idiot who thought up that little idea. Its not working!

If they were forced to declare the price per unit and offer only one tariff it might work.
At the moment they are enjoying operating behind a smokescreen of confusion.

Volty I agree, they should all be made to have one tariff and publish it along with an explanation how it was arrived at. Furthermore the most expensive one each year should be forced out of business and absorbed by the cheapest one.
