Anyone remember,monks sausages it used to be in cranberry avenue,of garretts green lane birmingham. My mother worked there for sometime in the canteen her name Hannah b or Anne for short. Als a little known laundry business in the yew tree name unknown she was a busy women

Yes Mick, Monks made great stuff. It has been a snooker hall and a cafe for many years now.
Just a slight correction though. It wasn't Cranberry Avenue it was Granby Avenue. So named after the bakery.

My mom worked there for years she used to put the meat into the skins and make the "links" - her name was Barbara. She has been passed away for many years now otherwise I would have asked her if she knew your mom. I remember going to work with her one day and being allowed to have a go at "linking" it was great fun and I'll always remember the banter between everyone. Everyone was so friendly.
I also went to Blakenhale Junior and Infants School. I have fond memories of Mrs Jacques, (infants). She gave me a good telling off for trying to bury someone in 2" of sandpit and during the school holidays we all went to "Play Centre".
Junior school was altogether different, although great fun. Mr Lamb always used to wear a white suit and we used to have to stand in line and hold out our hands to have them inspected for cleanliness.

I remember Colin Lamb from Blakenhale, he used to come into our pub with another teacher Mick Harwood. I used to play Badminton with them on Thursday nights in the school hall. About ten of us then off down to our pub.

Cleo we all used to go over to the Blakenhale Play Centre in the summer holidays, that was in the 50s and 60s, there was never any trouble from the local kids. because the were people who kept us busy and cared.
