New Street Station

#1 by Sheldonboy , Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:41 am

At last the plans have been passed for the "NEW" New Street Station Re-Build. work is to start later this year anlets now see our great city get the Rail Station it deserves.
New Street Station handles 40 million people per year. It's used by 140,000 people per day. In 1967 it was rebuilt to handle 60,000 people per day. Hopefully our new station won't be another eyesore. SB

Well I for one hope that they rethink that great glass shed they were flaunting about last year. Don't we deserve something of architectural merit?

I must be old fashioned, I like a building that is a building. Bricks & mortar and not plastic, glass and glue. I just wonder how many of these multi million pound edifices will still be around when St Martins & St Phillips, The Council House and the BMAG finally fall down.
