I had a dolls house that my uncle made, it was better than any shop bought one. A Mobo scooter, red with yellow wheels and a doll named Pauline, my sister poked her eyes out on Boxing day, Dad had to take her head off to put them back...

Another of my very Favourite toys when I was very young, was instead of a Teddy Bear, I had an Elephant his body was like a teddy bear but had the head of an elephant. He only had one eye and one tusk, his name was actually Teddy. But he was the best. By the way I was only about four years old.

I don't think I had a favourite toy when I was a child, as a matter of fact toys were pretty thin on the ground when I was growing up. Being the eldest child they got less as well as the family got bigger. Still I was happy to go without so that my siblings could get more. I was always quite happy with a few books and annuals.

You surprise me Phil, I could just see you with a Zorro sworrd and mask, remember them. The sword had a rubber tip on the end for safety not much help when you are whacked on the head with it.

Of course when I was one of two children there were bigger toys, I can remember a Dan Dare suit and a Cowboy suit, but never a Zorro suit. Though I would be very young then as I was about six when the third sibling arrived on the scene.
Phil
Cowboy suits I forgot them, and slapping your side as you were riding down the garden
I bet Lyn had a Nurses outfit

I had a Robin Hood outfit, I still have it.
Teddy Bear as old as I am, lives in my wardrobe.
Among the things I still have from the Sixties are Scalextric, Microscope set, Telescope, Spirograph, Monopoly, Miniature Golf (for laying out on a lawn), Magic set.
Some of the things that mysteriously vanished from the loft, usually when I was away from home, Meccano, Lego, Train Set, Magic Robot, Boxing gloves and punch bag, Cap Guns, Crossbow, Chinese Metal Puzzles, Trik Trak, Barbie, Magnus Chord Organ.

I had a Chemistry Set when I was about 8, Merit 2A or something like that, It was plenty dangerous enough in my hands.
It got incorporated into future purchases as I got older and is now contained in a wooden engineers chest in my workshop. All those chemicals are probably de-stabilising as we speak.

I had a sort of chemistry set as well. It was Letts I think. Minute amounts of chemicals, one of which Was salicylic acid. couldn;t think what I could use that for then, and, in relation to the other chemicals available, can't think of anything now, after 50 years of chemistry

Perhaps the Salicylic acid was for helping with the pain and skin irritation associated with having irritant acids and a spirit burner to play with. Hot flame, hot glass, hot water, molten Sulphur, hot spitting solutions, acid splashes, etc.
I had a lot of small burns.
