How important are Prayers in politics

I wouldn't think that prayers have anything to do with politics, but I can understand some of these politicians praying after some of the decisions they make. After all they need all the help they can get.

I'm not quite sure what they pray for. As you say SB, it might be for forgiveness for what they do. The parson from the local church near where this happened was on the TV news- very upset. Obviously his prayers haven't been answered

Maybe they would stand for a reading from the Koran.

Redditch mayors all have to elect a chaplain for their year who conduct the prayers before council meetings, one year the mayor was an atheist so hasd a humanist chaplain, the local were in uproar. For my part i do not believe religion should have anything to do with politics, in fact whilst I am on the subject they should stop bishops and members of the church getting into the lords, scrap that as well.

Religion is one of those things that people should keep to themselves.
It's an entirely selfish preoccupation despite the public displays.

i too think religion is a waste of time you dont need it to be a nice honest human. most churches of all denominations use religion to keep the population under control, it much easier to be free thinking and not go along with a theme from a book (most of them are the same anyway)
