Nothing to do with Birmingham of course. But this is well worth a look. Sashimono is the best quality woodworking I have ever seen. No Nails no glue no screws just fantastic joints.

I suspect Chippendale would have said " what's so special about that". Maybe not glue, but nails and screws are something that have only relatively recently been used in furniture, perhaps partly because, centuries ago metal items were expensive

It's the original flat pack, if people could be trusted to assemble them with the required accuracy and care.

One thing's for sure, you couldn't do those joints on the crappy wood we get from B&Q, etc.
