Kyrwicks Lane

Please take a look at this Google view of the junction of Kywicks Lane and Oughton Road and see if you can work out what the dick of a city planner was thinking.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=5...2,327.9,,0,2.05

Note that Oughton Road is two way traffic.
Note that Kyrwicks lane is now a dead end with a dead leg.
Note that Kyrwicks Lane is one way traffic toward Oughton Road.
Move around a bit and see how effective that fly tipping notice is.
I would like to know why the road was shortened for the benefit of a crappy retail park, why aren't there any No Entry signs in Oughton Road before the junction, why is there no pedestrian through way and why leave that little dumping ground?
All rhetorical questions, odf course, as I already know the answers.

Volty

I have no idea why they would alter the roads like that around my old stamping grounds, other that bridge at Kyrwicks lane could be a bit dodgy for traffic especially if someone came through at a bit of speed and you were going in the other direction.

I see my old local The Hereford is still going strong, I must get down there one of the days soon to see if any of the old crowd still get in there. I note they haven't pulled the Friends institute down yet. I don't know what I would have done without those back steps in Oughton Rd when I was younger. I used to do a lot of courting there, invariably the girl would stand on one step that was lower than the one I stood on.

No I'm saying that I am quite short 5' 4" but until I was about 17 I was only 4' 8" I spurted up 8 inches in about 3 or 4 years and that was it. So you can see why even small girls were taller than me.
