The one you can pruchase on CD has 6 volumes listed, though they say in the CD intruduction that "It appears to have ceased
publication after 4 years", so not clear whether this is complete

I also have these books on CD, this is what the introduction page says,
Birmingham Faces & Places
Birmingham Faces & Places was a monthly local magazine published by J G
Hammond & Co recording local people and local places. It appears to have ceased
publication after 4 years, but is still a wonderful contemporary record of the city.
Birmingham was then – as it always seems to have been – undergoing continual
change. The most obvious change in the city centre was the construction of
Corporation St. This involved the demolition of a large swathe of central
Birmingham, and one of the articles in the magazine reminds readers of the scale of
the changes taking place. Many others capture and illustrate lost landmarks.
The magazine was very well illustrated for such an early publication. The pictures are
of photographic quality, and although at first glance they seem to be high quality
engravings we think it more likely that they use an early form of screening. At least a
third of the pages are illustrations.
To read the books, please follow the links at left. To return to this introduction,
follow the Introduction link in each book. Please also use the links at left to find an
alphabetic index, but please note that this was extracted from the books, and varied in
format through the four years of publication.
I agree entirely with what is said here and I think it is well worth the purchase price.

Its on the MHD site at http://www.midlandshistoricaldata.org. Direct link doesn't work, so you have to go to site and then "browse shelves" then Birmingham local historyu books, then page 2 . CD is second one down (if my instructions are right)

I've just received the CD and as far as I can see it has the 6 Volumes running from May 1888 to April 1894
Am finding it to be superbly well put to-gether and I feel worth every penny.
Thanks for the advice on buying this.
Any more like this that I can look up.!
Lynn.

That would depend on the type of book you are looking for, if it is an early history of Birmingham you can't do better than A History of Birmingham by William Hutton. You can load this book along with others free at Project Gutenberg.
