Paracetamol ‘No Good For Back Pain'

I don't think they have got this right.

Paracetamol is ineffective at treating back pain and osteoarthritis despite being a recommended treatment, a group of Australian researchers has warned.

And Paracetamol is bad for the liver
Sloans Linament has been on the market for years and it is the best relief for a bad back

Paracetamol is also one of the worse drugs to overdose on. After an overdose every major organ can bleed severely and as far as I know there is no antidote

Some years ago I was off work for six months with severe back pain. I was put right by an Osteopath.

I must admit that I was surprised to read it, though not so surprised about the comments of liver problems. After all the reason that paracetamol can be dangerous if taken in excess is because it causes liver damage.
As to the comments about back pain and osteoarthritis, I am always very dubious about scientific papers that just take the work of others (in this case 13 studies ) which they have had nothing to do with, combine them and then try to draw conclusions. Supposedly the effect on osteoarthritis is "not clinically significant". I'm sure if it gives some relief then it is very significant to those who actually suffer from it. A nurse once told me that they had found that a combination of paracetamol and ibuprufen was very good in many cases for arthritis.
Undoubtably exercise is best if you can get over the initial pain, and if, of course , you can partake of it
