I see Barnsley is to ban swearing. Police will have the power to fine anyone indulging £800. Obviously they will be calling on other forces to flood the area and stamp it out. Apparently people feel intimidated by it. I hadn't realised that!!!. Another potty law meant to curb free speech. I'm now crossing Barnsley off my visits list.
I swear a lot without realising it, no offence intended, but that's just me, I've just said F***k in front of a lady in the pub, after apologising, and feeling a bit foolish, her answer was, "don't worry babe, I hear it all the time" she was about 26 years of age.
David I suppose there will microphones everywhere now as well as cameras.

My ex partner and Uncle swore all the time, it was not meant maliciously he just didn't know he was doing it. One day about six of us went in to a strange café and were in a separate room to the staff (two ladies) Dave was swearing like a trooper as usual, one of the ladies came through to where we were sitting and said if the swearing doesn't stop I will ask you to leave. David turned around to me and said " What is she on about Phil I haven't F*****g swore. He didn't realise that he had swore then either.
Another time, we used to do a lot of work at the Rover in Garrison St Small Heath, one day I was in the office with Joe the head manager there and he said to me "Phil can't you get David to stop swearing as I am worried for his soul and that he will never get to heaven" Yes Joe was a bit of a god botherer. When I told Dave about Joe's worries I won't repeat what his answer was.
Anyway, all the police I know swear more than our Davis does, so who is going to nick them?

They have got them already haven't they got to remove them from Alum Rock, Moseley, and other high density immigrant areas?

A bit silly
Now, if they were to introduce a finr for politician's lying ....
That would be far more sense and certainly just as lucrative.
As I read it, the ban is only for an exxperimental month AT FIRST

Only for a month. Most of us couldnt last five minutes. Signman, intrigued to se f**k spelt with five letters. That's a first. Did I think you were a signwriter? It opens up a whole new world.
David I am not pedantic about starring letters I just bang on the keyboard until I think that's enough ha ha.
You are right I am a signwriter, 71, and still working.
Signman, I had a good laugh at your reply. Quite brightened my day as did the topic when I first read it. My dad was a corporal in the marines. He was an accomplished swearing man. I was well trained!!
I don't like swearing but will admit to doing it when I lose my temper.
People that use the F word and worse are a pain to be around as I find it really irritating.
I find it hard to beleave that someone is unaware they are swearing.
As for banning it ........no no no
Talk about Big Brother.

Denise,
You have never met our David if you did, believe me you would soon see that it is possible.

I will admit I am quite capable of swearing as are many people that I have known. I am also quite capable of not swearing when the company or occasion requires it. There is no excuse for any conversation which offends the company that you are in. For most people that freely swear in open company it's not a case of bad control of language, more a very bad control manners. SB
