Japan Disaster

#1 by Sheldonboy , Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:32 am

So far around 4000 British people are reported missing in the aftermath of the Japanese Eathquake and Tsunami. Some of these may be down to Communication issues, let's hope so.
China and Russia are among the teams helping from around the world. Not exactly best friends until now.

This news topic seems to have gone very quiet since the squabbling started up again in the middle east.

A friend of mine, who's 80 year old Japanese parents in law live North of Tokyo, tells me that a few days after the first big quake the firm that originally built their 30 year old house came round and made free essential repairs to allow them to live in the house safely, until then they were living in an adjacent field.

I doubt in this country that there is any firm still in existence that built any houses 30 years ago, or if there is a name the same, then it has been taken over by a conglomerate , who certainly wouldn't be bothered about repairs (even if it was 3 years old and the damage was due to builders incompetance).

Mike

You are lucky in this country if you can get them to do the 6 month snagging on new build properties.
