High Speed Rail Link

Personally I have no opinion on the proposed High Speed Rail Link between London & Birmingham. I won’t be using it and it doesn’t affect me where I live. So other than the fact that I think it a waste of £17.5 Billion at a time when the money could be better used elsewhere, other than being wasted as a prop for a few wealthy commuters so they can have a few extra minutes in bed.

What I do object to is a so called public consultation that does not allow those not in favour of HS2 access to the meeting. To get a ticket to the consultation you have to apply for tickets to a government website. But campaigners from Stop HS2 are being told that there is no room for them, because space is extremely limited.

Os this what is known as a consultation, I would have thought that out of a £17.5 Billion budget a few extra hundred quid could have been found for a bigger venue. Or is it that they just don’t want anybody there who is against it?

Is it really only going as far as London?

I believe it will start in London and somewhere north of Brum it will split and fork off to Leeds & Manchester. I also read today that the costs are now estimated at £33 Billion.

I've forked off to Leeds and Manchester many times in the past but I don't really plan on doing it again anytime soon.
The cost doesn't matter, it's only money being redistributed. We can always print some more, in fact I think I might start doing some myself.

Volty

I agree, when they start talking in Billions it tends to loose all sense of proportion.

Not a high speed rail link but a link to the google map view of a remote place I visited in 2003. They have a whole load of steam loco's, stationary engines and workshop machinery.
Most of it was made in this country. Just look up Sapacai or Sapacay on google.
