I'll tell you what I reckon our weather at the moment is a bit hairy, it's extremely windy and Hammering down.
The whole of Wales was forecast Torrential rain for at least 24 hours up until at least 6am Tuesday.

The link sounds rather peculiar, but not really any more nutty than my neighbour, who several times (including a couple of days ago) has washed his car just after a rain storm

The rain often contains a load of sand and dust, which is best washed off while it is still in suspension rather than let it dry on to the paintwork.
This saves additional effort and paint damage when washing the car when dry.
The recent snow carried a load of mud with it.
