(Won't mention football). But completely agree about Strictly come dancing and X factor. Had the misfortune to be present at a house the other weekend (never having seen it) when X factor was on. The "presenters reminded me of someone compering a kids program and the Jimmy Saville lookalike proved to me that all responsible should be hung drawn and quartered

What I don't understand is how given the choice of over 70 channels on Freeview, over 100 if you count +1s, I can often find there isn't anything worth watching, let alone anything new.

My go to favourites are:
Big Bang Theory, any episode at any time…always entertaining.
MASH, ditto.
Antiques Roadshow
Antiques Road Trip
Bargain Hunt
Flog It
University Challenge
Coast
Everybody Loves Raymond
Have I Got News For You
Countryfile
