At least it was close. It still doesn't give Clinton voters the right to dispute the result after the fact. Our system isn't any better, a whole ward could vote for a single candidate and it still only wins their party one seat. I think?.
I agree with that. Trouble is, when the election system was originated, the candidates were supposed (NOTE ONLY SUPPOSED) to represent the people of the area, and the large conglomerates of crooked party manipulators were not so prevalent . Although corruption still existed , the local member did tend to put forward the point of view of those who elected them (then not necessarily all those who lived in the area). Nowadays they merely tend to support whatever policy suggested by the crook who pays the party the most money. There is no real reason now to have individual members for different areas because usually they care little about the constituents of their area. Admittedly there are a few exceptions to my last statement
It's all managed anyway by moving the boundaries of wards, that shouldn't be allowed. The something or other commission want to change Yardley into Stechford for political purposes.
