#1 by astoness , Sat Aug 20, 2016 7:59 pm

hi folks well i am back...had a wonderful time last week..think my feet have only just touched the ground[Little LOL] will list the things i did and places i went to and then i will edit a few photos and post them tomorrow...

SET OUT AT 5AM MONDAY MORNING...ARRIVED AT CAMP JUST OUTSIDE INVERNESS AT 3 PM..this included a few breaks along the way..
TUESDAY..WENT ON THE STRATHSPEY STEAM RAILWAY..
WEDNESDAY...CRUISE ON LOCH NESS..GOT OFF FOR AN HOUR TO TOUR URQUHART CASTLE THEN BACK ONTO THE BOAT TO PICK UP POINT. BACK IN THE CAR.THEN HEADED FURTHER UP TO VISIT A LITTLE FISHING VILLAGE CALLED HELMSDALE WHERE I ONCE LIVED FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS..THEN HEADED ON UP TO JOHN O GROATS..HEADED BACK TO BASE AND AS IT WAS DARK BY THEN IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THE OIL RIGS ALL LIT UP.THEY LOOKED LIKE GIANT CHRISTMAS TREES..
THURSDAY....ANOTHER BOAT TRIP ON THE MORAY FIRTH IN THE HOPES OF SEEING THE DOLPHINS...WAS REALLY LUCKY THAT DAY AS THERE WERE 3 OF THEM IN THE HARBOUR AND THEY FOLLOWED OUR BOAT OUT...ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TO SEE THEM..ONE OF THEM DIVED UNDER AND THEN CAME UP WITH A SALMON IN HER MOUTH...
FRIDAY SET OUT FOR HOME AT 8.30 AM ARRIVED HOME AT 8.30 PM..ON THE WAY BACK TOOK A SLIGHT DETOUR TO SEE HADRIANS WALL..SEEMED SILLY NOT TO AS WE WERE SO CLOSE TO IT...

CAME HOME SHATTERED BUT IT WAS AN AMAZING 4 DAYS...THE SCENERY WAS STUNNING...WALL TO WALL SUNSHINE EVERY DAY WITH TEMPS GETTING UP TO 25 WHICH IS AMAZING FOR THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND..I TOOK VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE DOLPHIN TOUR AND SAILING DOWN LOCH NESS BUT UNLESS I PUT THEM ONTO YOUTUBE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO SEE THOSE BUT LIKE I SAID I WILL PUTS A FEW ON TOMORROW...

Well done Lyn looks like you had a great time. Loch Ness is massive isn't it apparently there is more water in Loch ness than most of the other rivers put together.
