Concerns

#1 by Sheldonboy , Wed Sep 15, 2010 7:02 am

Concerns expressed in today's Metro.
If the Fire Service Men an Women were to strike over Job and funding cut's, the military who we have relied on in the past wouldn' be able to cope.
Plus their aging Fire appliances are so much older.
The strike threat is I think looming closer, unions are discussing this openly now.

Can you remember a Tory government that hasn't caused strikes. I can see trouble as bad as the Poll Tax riots arising out of this. The problem is as usual they are not even trying to give the impression of being fair about the cuts.

Didn't i read some years ago that they had got rid of all, or most, of the green goddesses (the aged machines you were talking about) to save money ? If so, then the army wouldn't have any machines to use, even if there were any people not in Afghanistan to use them

Mike

They would just use the equipment at the fire stations, if no other was available. I think you will also find that the brigade would turn still turn out if people were in danger, but they would allow property to burn to the ground.

She is another complete idiot, she also says that civil action and unrest is not the British way of life. If she thinks that we will sit still to be shafted then she has read different history books to me.

Both this Government and the last bunch of Muppets are only concerned with finance. They must understand finance to be able to fiddle so much for years and cover it up.
They also must understand, that to have a decent quality of life it has to be paid for. Cutting services especially Emergency services is insane.
Cutting public service workers ie: Council staff begs a question. If we can do without these workers now, What has the public purse been paying all these people to do for all these years. SB

According to todays Birmingham Mail, 17000 public sector jobs will go in West Midlands. The Birmingham Chamber advises. This is nothing less than bloody madness.

All I can say is if 17,000 jobs are going in the West Midlands. I should think that Greater London will loose at least 5 times that many. So why do I doubt it.

SB

Even so, what I said holds true. If we can afford to loose that many public sevants in the West Mids, then greater London can afford to loose five times that amount. So thats 850,000 that should save a few bob. I know 647 they can make a start with.
